FAQ

A bank or financial institution’s services are extended through their employees or authorised Banking Correspondent in Doorstep Banking, Branchless Banking, or Agency Banking (BC). The BC then comes to an individual’s place to provide banking services, rather than the individual having to go to a bank branch. Since many individuals reside in rural or underdeveloped areas where bank branches and services are not available or in limited numbers, agency banking is used on a broad scale as a form of financial inclusion

Opening a bank branch in a rural, developing market necessitates a significant capital investment, and usually the branch does not produce enough revenue to justify the expenditures. One of the main reasons why banks do not reach out to rural consumers is because of this high cost low return scenario. Here Leopard comes into picture which is basically a mini-bank; it is a microATM that provides many of the functions of a traditional bank without the need for a physical location. On behalf of his/her bank or financial organisation, the Banking Correspondent visits individuals and assists them i to access different bank services on Leopard. For most BCs, learning Leopard (A micro ATM Machine with Finger print) and becoming a Banking Correspondent is like getting a new or additional source of income. It not only provides them with greater revenue, but it also provides them with other non-monetary benefits, such as increased respect and the position of significant people in their villages. It has offered many women in self-help groups with an income opportunity, allowing them to improve their conditions and even contribute to their family.
